So, I can't physically give you all a mixtape, but I can turn you in the right direction. Trust me, I'm an expert on all genres, both mainstream and underground. Try me. This will be very Hip-Hop influenced. We could even go as far as to say that this is my favorite year end tracks
1. Haim- The Wire
Off their fantastically poppy Days Are Gone disc comes my favorite, but really all the tracks are solid. 3 sisters from L.A. Performing catchy garage pop that sounds like sunshine. Highly recommended.
2. Angel Haze- Echelon (it's my way)
We all know how I feel about this fast tongued emcee and her highly EDM influenced fusion of Hip-Hop and block rockin beats! This is one of my favorites.
3. Eliza Doolittle- Walking On Water
Possibly the best comeback album in awhile from the British princess of soul, kicks, and gorgeous heartfelt lyrics. This is one of the most underrated pop songs and will probably remain that way unfortunately.
4. Naughty Boy Feat Sam Smith- La La La
Here's a little dance for ya, by my man Sam Smith with that amazing soulful falsetto he has and such a catchy beat by Naughty Boy. Watch out, Aviici and David Guetta. This is how your competition sneaks up on you out of the wood work. The video is tits as well!
5. Sevyn Streeter Feat Chris Brown- And It Don't Stop
Oh god, her voice is so gorgeous and this smooth laid back summer breeze of a track is perfection. A great shout out to Aaliyah, and I don't hate Chris Browns presence, although the candlelit remix acoustic version go on YouTube is so much better. This girl has a huge career ahead of her
6. Toni Braxton Feat Babyface- Hurt You
The perfect break up song, and the video is oscar worthy! I cannot wait to hear their entire reunion album, her voice still sends chills down my spine and she is at her best when she is with him. Same goes for him. They were meant to be together.
7. Jean Grae- iwantweback
Off her Gotham Down Trilogy, an unexpected bittersweet song that hits you like a wrecking ball (kidding, no) the whole project is great, but I needed that song and it came out right as I needed it. Available at her bandcamp and well worth it!
8. Psalm One- Voyeuristic
It's so hard for me to pick just one, but off her FreeHugs Cd available on her bandcamp this is my favorite. That beat that just oozes dirty sleezy midnight hookups and her flow is so seductive. She knows how much I love her, and frankly it's biased for me to put her in this list but this song is so hot!
Patiently awaiting her Sophmore release on Rhymesayers, Hug Life.
9. Justin Beiber- All That Matters
I know, I respect the producers. He is the male version of Britney Spears, the product. But, this song is the motherfucking jam! I don't care who sings it, in fact, his new CD is Nice like white on rice with no spice, no dice.
10. Mapei- don't wait
Moan, this song is so good. Mapei had a hot ass weird EP where she rapped and I loved it about 5 years back, never heard much from her except a few dance tracks here and there. This song definitely defines a gorgeous love, and her delivery with that sexy crackling voice is on point. Love this song, love this song, did I mention this song is so good?
11. A$AP Rocky- Wild For The Night - Fashion Killa
Yeah I know that was two songs, but they are his collaborations with Skrillex off his mind blowing lay great album. These songs couldn't be different but they both are just weird and I never get sick of shaking my lil white ass to them. They stick out on the album, but only as stand out cuts on an already solid album
12. Aubrey O'Day- Hurts So Good
Her E.P. Between Two Evils was a complete departure from the pop we are used to hearing from her, and this is grimey, club friendly sexy pop for that ass! She fucking rocks, as does the EP to the point that I'm actually sad she is now abandoning this sound to reunite with Danity Kane. I never thought I'd say I was sad about that reunion.
13. Rudimental- Hell Could Freeze
Ok, it is kind of my way of sneaking another Angel Haze song is, as she provides us with the vocals and one of her best raps to date to such a dreamy beat. This song has taken me places, like right past my destination when I'm lost in their gorgeous collaboration.
14. Katy B. - 5 AM
Well really I Like You, What Love Is Made Of should've all been on my list ( they are now, like how I did that?) but the euro queen of dance and pop has already made a strong announcement that she isn't going anywhere. Dance, and know that you are listening to a gorgeous woman, but her beats will take you away to the point you'll forget what's happening. I love music.
15. Beyonce- Flawless
Oh god that beat is sick, everything about this visual album that came out of nowhere is solid and will definitely be scooping up the awards. The video is my favorite out of her 17, but they are all great. I have nothing to say but Beyonce dropped a bomb on the industry when she didn't even need to.
16. Eminem - Rap God
Yeah, it's played out, but his flow is so sick and the video is visually insane. I mean, he brought back Max Hedroom and surprised me a lot by dropping The Marshall Mathers LP 2, since my love for him had dropped a lot as he got too serious in every fucking song for his own good. His last album was fucking Rap Balladry, if that even exists and I know it won a bunch of awards, but it ain't for me.
17. Katy Perry Feat Juicy J.- Dark Horse
Katy, you're cd is a solid mish mash of hits, while so many of your competitors have dropped flops left and right ( Britney, Miley, Gaga) I still love those flops, but they are going to be renegotiating their contracts very soon. This cut is particularly sexy and Katy Perry is gorgeous and amazing and I'll kick your ass if you disagree...
18. Omarion Feat Fabolous and Pusha T- Know You Better
Great beat, by yet another teen pop star that I try to hate but cannot. Basically, the perfect soundtrack to get it on too, and Pusha T kills it.
19. Jay Rock Featuring Kendrick Lamar- Hood Gone Love It
Not much to say, this song is the shit and they are both lyrical beasts who definitely upped the ante for mainstream rappers this year. Highly on rotation
20. Fifth Harmony- Me And My Girls
Here is the poppy sugar coated side of me. This is just a great beat and fun song.
21. Ciara- Sophmore
One of the sexiest cuts she has ever put out, can't wait for a video. Until then I'll just have keep practicing my own. But seriously, this song is so sexy. Put this on in the club and get out of my way!
22. Rapsody Feat Raheem DeVaughn- Caught Up
It's too hard to pick a favorite off her critically acclaimed She Got Game disc. It's too hard to pick a favorite from most of her catalogue, mainly because 9th Wonder is her fucking producer! The two are a match made in Heaven, although the soulful laid back vibe can come off a little too much like a Valium overdose after awhile. She got bangers don't get me wrong. Rapsody is a beast! Cop any and everything you can from her, most of its free on her site.
23. Mike Will Made It feat Miley Cyrus and other people- 23
Number 23, is 23, a posse cut featuring the genre switching Miley Cyrus rapping about getting high and redeeming herself in the ass department after that VMA occurrence.
24. Beyonce feat Jay-Z- Drunk in Love
Sex, and a great beat, their chemistry and adorable video of the power couple getting drunk on the beach and canoodling. Love it. It's hot.
25. Mariah Carey feat Miguel- #Beautiful
I was trying to find a way to incorporate Miguel and then remembered this gem that sounds like a golden oldy that should've been. Live the song so much
26. Mariah Carey- Art Of Letting Go
A gorgeous ballad that brings me to my knees when I hear it. Her voice is velvet and this is such a great song. I wouldn't release it as a single, but it's is pure beauty and let's her play vocal gymnastics while we eat that shit up! Can you tell I need a disc from her soon?
27. The Saturdays- Disco Love
Because I love them, and clearly I love British pop and this song is great. Their album Living For The Weekend is the first from them to be released in the states and I love it. Not charting too well, but still it's a great song. It's just funny, they have like 5 CDs but are considered new artists. I love it. Just because you haven't heard of it, doesn't make it new Honey.
28. Little Mix- DNA
Another girl group with the sweet sounds of EDM influencing their stand out vocals and unique look. I am a fan and wish them much success, even if they are simply the product of XFactor or something like that. Haven't heard a song I didn't like yet.
29. Will.i.Am feat Miley Cyrus and everyone else- Feeling Myself
Another posse cut to give Miley street cred, and it works. I don't care, she the most fun train wreck we have had in a long time, and does it with such elegance. Lol. No, she snaps on this. I like the two songs mentioned better than her actual album #Bangerz but maybe that'll grow on me.
30. Dynasty feat Talib Kweli- Stay Shinin'
Dynasty is a great rapper, and holds her weight against Talib. Her album features a very impressive roster, and she got a fan. Not my favorite, but deserved recognition.
31. Demi Lovato- Neon Lights
Because I live her voice so much, and her dance floor diva status attempt almost worked. This is still great song, just not killer diva.
32. Selena Gomez- Slow Down
The Cataracts
33. Cher- Woman's World
Titular track is awesome, as is this very under appreciated release from the queen of plastic and goodbyes herself. And weird fucking children.
34. Sage The Gemini- Swerve
That beat. All I need. Those lyrics need to go. But damn, I can't stop my ass from shaking.
35. August Alsina- Numb Remix
Hah, this is my shit. That song that literally gives your friends instructions on how to act with your drunk ass. No idea who his, but this song is good. He has another one I like, but not enough to look it up and write about it. Shit, he should feel lucky I mentioned him at all!
36. Jessie J feat Big Sean and Dizzee Rascall- Wild
This is my jam, and I'm so in live with her crazy ass. The bald is a good look on her, and her new CD Alive is brilliant!
37. Azealia Banks feat Pharrell- ATM
They got racks racks racks till the ATM jam. That's all you need to know. No I like this cuz she's sexy and she's a bitch and this song is great. Nobody has ever heard it, and she needs to cut attacking rap game veterans on Twitter for popularity
38. Iggy Azalea feat T.I.- Change Your Life
Iggy is dope as hell, her and T.I.P. Are adorable together. Watch out for her, she's got tricks up the sleeves she barely wears. I am confused though, how do you have so much ass and literally no titties? None. I have bigger titties. I commend her for not feeling the need to get a boob job, but it's a little strange. Still, she is gonna drop The New Classic and change the game!
39. Musiq feat Syleena Johnson- Feel The Fire
Off their reggae duet album, this song serves at the lead single and one of the strongest cuts, but there are many on it. They need a part 2 immediately if not sooner. This gorgeously sung Ragga groove makes my lights flicker something beautiful!
40. OneRepublic- Counting Stars
I love this song, and my favorite jock rap track to come out In a long time.
41. Kid Ink feat Chris Brown- Show Me
With that ever present Robyn S. Beat and the handclaps, stand back. I love this song.
42. Childish Gambino- V.3005
Love this song, and I think his words are very clever, despite who he is.
43. Lea Michelle- Cannonball
Glee and broadway star drops a great debut single, a strong empowering ballad. Love it.
44. TemiDollFace- Pata Pata
Just listen to it, and watch the video. You'll see why it made the list.
Yes, I could keep going, and might be back to edit it, but for now enjoy these songs!
Love,
K.J. Dominick's
